Art Happenings

Our friends over at Prairiebrooke Arts (located at in Downtown Overland Park) had a very special guest in October.  Pastel artist Bob Ichter traveled to Kansas City from Atlanta to visit Prairiebrooke Arts and meet with clients old and new.  Brooke and Megan (the mother and daughter dynamic duo who run Prairiebrooke Arts) invited me to come by the Open House, meet Bob, and take a few photos of the event.  What a fun evening!  They have a beautiful show room and Bob’s work is just stunning.  It was wonderful to watch him work on a pastel painting while he interacted with the guests.

To learn more about Bob and his beautiful work, visit the Prairiebrooke blog post about the event or go visit the Ichter Studios site here.

Thank you for including me in your event Prairiebrooke!

My Irish Boys…

My husband is a die hard Irish fan!  He went to Notre Dame as an undergraduate and returned for law school (that is what they call a “double domer” ;)  He still attends games each fall – and we have even taken the boys to a few.  So every fall I photograph the boys in their current ND jerseys to gift him with photos for his September Birthday.  I have done it every year since my oldest was a toddler.  There is something about putting on those jerseys though – the minute we get outside they are rough and tumble boys for sure!  It is a challenging session to do with them (who wants to take a photo when you could be throwing a football!?!), but always a fun one for sure!

So this one is for Daddy…. Go Irish!

Glitz, Glamour and Glitter ~ KC Style

I had a photographer friend contact about doing something a little different ~ and a little out of my comfort zone!  She was coming to Kansas City with six girlfriends for a very fun Bachelorette Party Weekend.  They were planning fun glittery outfits and a big night out. She asked me to come downtown and photograph all of them together before they went out.  They had already taken a poll dancing class that morning, so I won’t say I met up with them ‘before’ the fun began!  The girls looked gorgeous and everyone was set for a whole lot of fun to be had celebrating their beautiful friend and her upcoming marriage.  I warned Kaylinda (of Kaylinda DeTurk Photography) that this was a new kind of gig for me ~ but how could I say no to a fellow photographer! And I am SO glad I took this on.  I loved working downtown and the girls made it such a fun afternoon.  Always learning, always growing…

Thanks for giving me a little push Kaylnda!

Kansas City has so many beautiful buildings downtown.  The red brick wall is the side of the amazing Folly Theater and the steps lead to the Americo Financial building.
