Look Who’s One!

Sweet Baby Nathan.  What a joy it was to spend the morning with you and your beautiful mama.  And as baby number three, I kind of suspect you absolutely delighted in having her all to yourself for your special morning!!  I just loved watching the two of you have such a special bonding time together.  Watching your eyes light up when you got snuggles from Mama, well, that kind of made my day…

And then, there was cake.  And oh boy was there cake.  Can I tell you a secret?  I found more frosting yesterday – a week later.  It made me SO happy to see how much fun you had with that frosting!!  And I bet Donna loved seeing her cake enjoyed so much too.

I have loved watching you grow this year sweet boy.  You have gone from being the itty bitty newborn that I had the honor of photographing at just 11 days new to being one of the kiddos – so fun to watch you try to keep up with the gang at our play dates. Before we know it you actually WILL be keeping up with your big sisters and my two boys.  Happy Birthday little guy – Love ya bunches!

Thank you Cake Bliss by Donna Sateri for the darling and delicious cake – a huge hit, as always!

Sweet Baby Nathan at just eleven days new…

What is better than eating cake?

I love cake.  It is no secret, I have a sugar addiction.  But you know what is even better than eating cake? Feeding it to sweet little ones on their first birthday. This little guy came over  – and he decided he really shouldn’t be eating the cake all alone, so he managed to drag his whole family into the fun.  I loved it.  And one of my favorite things about these sessions is all the details and expressions we get to capture, so I put a few together in a little story board here to share.

Oh, and it was a bright beautiful morning, so we got outside for some family photos too.  I don’t use backlighting very often – but I think I could get used to that hazy dreamy sunlit look.  And his golden hair was perfect for it.  Thanks for helping me try something new little guy.

This cutie was a newborn client last spring – it is so much fun to watch my clients grow!  Thank you for coming back to share your cake with me for your special birthday Baby X.

Jamie Canter - He looks like an angel! Great use of light in these photos.

Greg Canter - These are great pics. I really enjoy the action pics of baby X eating cake.

Charlotte Brinkley - What a delight seeing these sweet pictures!! He is a doll. I love how babies show their true feelings. And these pictures captured that. And they captured his beautiful skin that I just want to reach out and touch. Great shots!

Bill - What wonderful pictures of such a beautiful subject.

Abuela Sheila McKee - Renee, you have done a beautiful job of chronicling Baby X’s story and feelings. I do love the backlit shot. Not only do you present him as a “flying angel,” but you also capture the unique coloring of his eyes. What a doll!

Marci - I like this photo a lot. One of its strengths is the soft lighting in the background and how it compliments his expression.

Matt - Can’t believe that’s the same little guy who was in the first photo!

Jessica - Dr. M,

Looks like cupcake likes “big” cakes now!!! ;-)

Judith Sisk - Pictures are adorable. A grandmothers delight.

Grandpa Ron - The backlit photo shows the true Xavier with his natural curly hair.

For this baby they prayed…

“For this child I prayed and the Lord has granted me my petition which I asked of Him.” I Samuel 1:27

This verse has always been special to me.  I have it on a frame in my first child’s room with a photo from his Baptism.  I firmly believe all children are a special blessing from above, a gift given and a treasure to be honored.

But this family, well, there were even more prayers than usual said here.  I won’t share the whole story, as it isn’t mine to share, but I will say the tears are flowing as I type this.  I have known this sweet family for five years.  I can tell you exactly how long I have known them because I had a rather large pregnant belly with my oldest child (who turns five in just three weeks!) when I met them.  We have played together, prayed together, shared laughter, shared tears, walked through times of joy and pain together.

I have loved watching their two sweet girls grow, but this family knew they were missing someone.  They desperately wanted baby number three, yet just couldn’t seem to get there.  After several years and many paths, it was with incredible joy that they welcomed a sweet baby boy to the family on April 2, 2012.

Please meet the B family and sweet baby M.  This was truly one of the most joyous newborn sessions I have ever photographed.  And these girls, well, just perfection…

PS I would love to hear your feedback!  If 15 of Baby M’s friends and family make comments on this blog post I will send his Mommy and Daddy an extra 5×7 print as a thank you gift.  Thanks for visiting my blog ♥ Renee
